Brufen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID) that alleviates pain and edema (inflammation). It is utilized for addressing headaches, muscle pain, back pain, dental discomfort, menstrual cramps, arthritis, and sports injuries. Additionally, Brufen is used to lower fever and alleviate minor aches associated with the common cold or flu. Ibuprofen functions by inhibiting the enzyme in your body responsible for producing prostaglandins. Lowering prostaglandin levels aids in diminishing pain, inflammation, and fever.
For treating mild aches, moderate pain, menstrual cramps, and fever, the standard adult dosage is 200 or 400 mg every 4 to 6 hours. Arthritis is managed with 300 to 800 mg taken 3 or 4 times daily. Under a doctor's supervision, the maximum allowable dose of Brufen is 3.2 g per day. Otherwise, the upper limit is 1.2 g per day. Users should not take Brufen for more than 10 days for pain relief or over 3 days for fever treatment unless advised by a doctor.
Children aged 6 months to 12 years typically receive 5-10 mg/kg of Brufen every 6-8 hours for fever and pain relief. The highest dose permitted is 40 mg/kg per day. Juvenile arthritis is treated with 20 to 40 mg/kg/day divided into 3-4 doses. To avoid stomach irritation, Brufen should be ingested with food.
The most frequent side effects associated with Brufen include skin rash, tinnitus, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and heartburn.
